Demon Slayer/ Kimetsu no Yaiba: Simple Formula, Successful Product
Due to many great works in the industry, for examples: Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Attack on Titan, Berserk, Gurren Lagann, ... many anime-watchers/manga-readers expect major anime/manga to have levels of world building and the iceberg of storylines, and it leads to people forgetting to enjoy simple, straight-forward Shounen anime/manga.
The amount of people saying that the Demon Slayer's story is being carried by the anime's animations and graphics, is a lot. It is true and I 100% agree with that.
The basic of Demon Slayer is action Shounen, simple as that. It is not about world conquests, or the battles between realms and dimensions, or time travelling and the ripple effects, it is purely an action Shounen.
The biggest strengths of Demon Slayer are the actions, the characters, the relationships, the backstories, the aesthetic of Breathings and Blood Arts, along with the semi-realistic takes on the brutality of the demons, and the willingness to kill off characters. The story is straight-forward, Demon Slayers vs Demons. The protagonist has a goal that is to try to cure his sister from demonism. That's it.
Gotōge Koyoharu-san had successfully delivered an action Shounen manga and Ufotable has successfully adapted it into a wonderful action anime.
Some can even say that Demon Slayer/Kimetsu no Yaiba is characters-driven, rather than story-driven, and I would shake their hand and simply nod.
It is people's own preferences on what they enjoy, and nobody can convince them that Demon Slayer's story is the best, because it is not the best, however, it is possible to say that Demon Slayer is one of the most entertaining anime/manga in the industry.
